How To Look Amazing On A Budget In The Post Covid Era

Shop from your own wardrobe first!

To be truly stylish, it does not take a huge budget or three walk-in wardrobes worth of designer clothes – you don't need a lot to look good. What you do need though, is to make good, sensible decisions.

1. Make sure you are utilizing at least 70% of your current wardrobe on a daily basis.

Yes, even while you're staying at home. Our lifestyle did go through a major shift and so should our wardrobe. Rearrange your closet to access the clothes that you wear the most and plan it in such a way that you have a unique outfit every day for the week.

We end up wearing the same 3 pairs of clothes as we can see them in our fresh pile of laundry, so make sure that you wash, iron, and arrange your clothes in a smart order in your wardrobe as soon as it's back from laundry or you're done wearing it for the day.

Waste proof of your wardrobe. Your clothes don't only cost you what comes on the price tag but it also includes some HUGE miscellaneous costs. We give our clothes a real estate space in our closet to live in which can end up being dead rent and a waste of space. We burn fuel to buy our clothes and even have them manufactured. Washing, ironing, and maintenance require the use of our precious non-renewable resources and time. It's not only a personal price that we are paying but also what the environment ends up paying.

Make conscious decisions.

We are hearing a lot about sustainable fashion and how to not buy fast fashion and mass-produced garments. What if we already have some of it? How to make sure that we are using what we have to the fullest?

USE THIS TRICK: At the beginning of the season, place all your hangers in the same direction. Each time you wear a piece, turn the hanger the other way. Very quickly within the season, you will see what you wear and what you don't. We usually only wear 40 - 60% of our wardrobe, according to Vestiaire Collective co-founder Fanny Moisant, who swears by this hanger trick.

So what to do with hangers that don't turn around? Find out why you don't wear them. Fitting problem - get it tailored, doesn’t go with your body type -swap it with your buddies, don’t like them? - donate them. If you are confused as to how you can wear certain pieces better. 2. Look after your clothes. You can do it in just 15 pieces. Don't believe us? Read till the very end to know how to build a cluster wardrobe.

After a wardrobe cleanses, you'll be able to see everything you own, like, and wear very clearly. Now it's time to make sure you are wearing it differently every day. Only 6 pieces can give you 15 unique outfits, imagine what more than 15 pieces can do for you.

Again, it's all about conscious decisions of how we want to look and what message we want to convey. However, at the beginning of every session on image management, we ask our clients, “Do you love it? Does it make you feel like you are wearing it for a purpose in life? Is it an armor you need for your journey to success?” Yes? Then own it.

If not, don’t waste your real estate space and maintenance. Disown it. Your clothes can define you. Be it Steve Jobs, Ratan Tata, or Bill Gates.

3. Buy what you need, but what makes you feel great and hold on to nothing more.

Shopping for 2020 has been quite a head-scratcher for all of us. We can't help but want to add some new and great pieces to our wardrobe. Because we know how important it is to look good and feel good, we came up with a solution where we find you some amazing and basic pieces which you can look forward to buying and that too on a budget!

Don't underestimate the power of a cluster wardrobe

Google says, “Organize your clothing into compatible groups that work together maximizing wardrobe options. A cluster is a core group of clothes of about 5 to 8 pieces which can be mixed and matched."

In short, you can simply use your old clothes to make a new outfit by coordinating them in different combinations.

It's pretty simple, just follow the DIY KSENIA CLUSTERING METHOD

STEP 1: Find an inspiration piece. It could be a garment that you love the most and are most confident in wearing it.

STEP 2: Find it's a true match. If your inspiration piece is a bottom then find it a top and vice versa. It's that simple. Make sure it complements your personal style and body shape.

STEP 3: Keep it going, layer it with a jacket, shrug, blazer, or switch things up with an accessory.

STEP 4: Use the 3 pieces you now have to add 2 more unique pieces that go well when matched with each other.

STEP 5: The Ksenia Special- Add an accent piece, make sure this piece is dramatic and goes with all the 5 pieces you've put together. Ms. Divya’s personal favorite for this is a saree, jumpsuit, or a long skirt. Insane, right?
